Associated condition

Synonyms:

  • Condition, related
  • Conditions, associated
  • Related condition

This term is often found in the drug indication section in DrugBank, and refers to any specific state or medical condition that may be related to the condition for which the drug is indicated.

For example, one indication of the drug Valsartan is in the prevention of hospitalization associated with heart failure, when it is combined with another drug. In this case, heart failure is considered an "associated condition", as it is related to the condition for which the drug is indicated (hospitalization).

Another example is that Valsartan is indicated in the prevention of cardiovascular mortality associated with myocardial infarction (the associated condition is myocardial infarction, in this case).
